Tell a Friend
This Album was given to me by a friend last Christmas, and after giving it a listen, I decided to give it a review. In this record, they delivered their older material in a more mastered version and giving the new ones a more up-tempo feel. And the kids’ giving a speech every now and then gives the album more human quality.

They got things started with a bombardment of energetic songs, “Coming Clean” as their opener. The poppy melody and raw emotion of the song “Holiday” shows how versatile the kids can become with their music, “The One You Want” and “Action and Action” wouldn’t settle for last, and with the power and sheer intensity of the song “Woodson”, it’s no question why the band was often linked with emotional trends of the main stream. After all the energy were used up, they shifted the tempo into a more melancholic manner, with songs like “Stay Gone”, “Mass Pike” and “Red Letter Day” you can’t help but sing along to the heartfelt lyrics of the songs. The song “Shorty” being one of their earlier works contained a lot more emotion and angst giving it a bit of an edge compared to the other songs. The beat of the bass and the melody of the piano were the perfect combination to accompany the emotion of the song “I’ll Catch You”. “Don’t Hate Me”,with the crowd chanting “Oh amy don’t hate me” at the part of the chorus, was a classic. And the kids finishing things off with the song “Is There A Way Out” sang in a distorted manner makes it the perfect ender.

The Get Up Kids, Considered by many as legends of indie rock considered it quits on March of 2005, with five full-lengths under their belts, this is the perfect farewell record for a band with such great credibility and I believe they couldn’t have done it better. You’ll Be Missed
